When it comes to creating spaces that feel both modern and welcoming, we can count on Hayden Wilson of Make It Mint. His recent work at Smile Dental is a masterclass in balancing clinical precision with refined, tactile design—made possible through the use of Novacolor’s Calce Cruda.
Set within the sleek walls of Smile Dental’s Sylvia Park location, the interiors exude an unexpected softness and depth thanks to Hayden’s seamless application of Venetian plaster. The choice of Calce Cruda, a lime and clay based finish, adds a mineral texture that contrasts beautifully with the crisp lines and polished surfaces throughout the space.
From softly curved ceilings to sweeping feature walls, Calce Cruda breathes warmth into what might otherwise feel like a sterile clinical setting. In particular, the reception area is a standout—the plaster finish complements the architectural curves and integrated LED lighting, enhancing the natural texture and tonal movement of the surface. The result is both calming and contemporary, offering patients a space that feels considered and composed from the moment they enter.
Throughout the consult rooms and common areas, the finish subtly shifts with the light, offering a dynamic, organic quality. Hayden’s mastery is evident in every trowel stroke, proving that even in highly functional environments like medical spaces, materiality matters.
This project is a stunning example of how Novacolor finishes can elevate commercial interiors. Hayden’s craftsmanship, paired with the natural elegance of Calce Cruda, showcases the transformative power of plaster in modern design.
